Off the course betting is the norm. The vast majority of
punters make their selections based on their superior
knowledge and instinct stemming from the 'form' as read in
the newspapers and the opinions of the papers 'experts'.
Well of course there is little choice about actually
attending the race meeting for most of us. But if we did,
the amount of extra information to be picked up and the buzz
to be had would make a big difference.
There is nothing to compare with the excitement that comes
from watching horse and greyhound racing live and in the
flesh. The atmosphere, the cheering crowd, have to be
experienced at a big meeting to be believed.
But the practical benefits are not inconsiderable too. Prior
to the off, you have the opportunity to see the animals and
judge their condition and attitude for yourself, at the
moment that really matters.
Off the record, I could suggest that you could do very well
not using a tipping service, even ours, if you frequent the
race courses and pick up the vibes and see the merchandise.
However, for most of us this is not realistic, so you really
should top up your data and whims with one of the better
tipping services. These do not usually come free and they
all go through lean patches, but by and large you get what
you pay for.
